How I thought I would change Georgia

Part I

Night train from Brno to Budapest Keleti train station. Passengers are high and drunk. Hooker is trying to find some customers all over the train. At 9 am, I will be in Budapest having breakfast with the girls, who I saw the day before.

Take the tube to the airport, thousands of people, businessmen with their suitcase rushing for an important meeting, young people with their backpacks ready for new adventures and I am one of them TODAY! I feel nausea everything I was dreaming of is there just three hours fly away. Another seven hours on the bus or maybe less? Finally, the lights of Tbilisi are in front of us.

Our first night in Tbilisi was nice and warm, meeting local volunteers who came to rescue us and lead us to our new home. Home on the highest point of Tbilisi, it seems, guarded by horrible German shepherd Lulu. As much as I tried to be friend with her, it turned out she didn`t have any intention to be my friend. Lulu made my life in Belinski street unbelievable hard from day one till the very last day.

Every day, I was horrified to leave the safety of my room and go out where she was waiting, ready to attack. Each evening or night, we used to use our two-meter-tall friend like a human shield (better him than s).

And just like that, I woke up in Georgia in the capital in Tbilisi, and the biggest adventures of my entire life were just about to begin. In my memory, Tbilisi tastes like Georgian wine, a little bit sweet, a little bit heavy and a little bit sleepy.

Mornings in the bus to get into the office like a first one (so you would get the privilege of choosing the best room with climate and access to the rooftop). An evening with a bottle of wine and deep discussion in our living room.

During the day, we tried our best to create something meaningful (about that another time), but most of the time, it was just a battle with procrastination and endless table football matches.

We came to Georgia to improve some lives via non-formal education, which I am still not sure if we managed. Our three projects weren`t that successful as those from Hollywood movies, but still, because of them, we had a chance to get to know Georgia from different angles.

To be continued…
