Marneuli (მარნეული)
After the first couple of days in the Tbilisi office, we went through the typical nice to meet you circle or, as I like to call it, AA (anonymous alcoholic meeting). After I said, I assume around 15x. Hi, my name is Kate, and I came to Georgia because one idiot broke my heart. We finally start working.
So, as you may know, we have been ten young enthusiasts from Czechia ready to fight the world for humans, animals, environmental rights. We didn`t waste a minute. Ten of us were divided into three small groups. So by the time the Marneuli team was preparing the activities, they made contacts in place and finally went there to look into the area. The rest of us had been working on our projects or maybe having coffee and visiting museums.
Nevertheless, before the event itself, we took marshrutkas from Tbilisi, and for about a 2-hour drive, we ended up on the Georgian-Azerbaijan-Armenia bother. The majority of the population is Georgian Azerbaijani (over 80%); therefore, you can encounter discrimination towards Armenian people etc.
So after our first visit, where the Marneuli team made a net of contacts, we returned to Tbilisi, where our lives continue in lazy vibes. Marneuli team started to freak out as the Day was coming. And put the task on all of us to make it work, smooth, whatever.
On that very Day, we packed our marshrutka and set off the road. Everyone had a task – health and safety/first aid, world map, graffiti jam, and so many others. Frankly, I am not really sure how those activities were supposed to educate about tolerance and non-violence. But perhaps games and teamwork could lead to some kind of friendship.
